Who We Are

HISTORY

Chorus Breviarii Murrieta are a group of men dedicated to the cultivation of good liturgy, good music, bountiful fraternity, and Romanità, all aspects of Catholicism that the founding members came to value as parishioners of Holy Martyrs of England & Wales in Murrieta, CA. They are neither priests nor religious, nor are they affiliated with any religious order or diocese.

The founding members found their liturgical wants supported by the Brothers of the Little Oratory in San Diego and the original Chorus Breviarii, yet with the long drive between Riverside County and San Diego, the need to form a distinct organization that operated independently but in close association with the San Diego organizations became apparent. Under the de facto leadership of Ken Onada, the members formed Chorus Breviarii Murrieta around Holy Week 2021, joining the CB members and Brothers for their annual singing of Tenebrae during the Sacred Triduum. The formalized status allowed Chorus Breviarii Murrieta members to better organize transportation not only to San Diego to join any of the Brothers' events, but also to the rest of the Diocese of San Bernardino to spread the benefits of good liturgy and music to other parishes.

ACTIVITIES

Imitating the model set forth by their confrères in San Diego, Chorus Breviarii Murrieta trains members both in the singing of Gregorian Chant and in the duties required for proper celebration of certain services in the Church.
